Moka is partnered with Ingenico Group Indonesia, the leading electronic data capture (EDC) provider in Indonesia, to integrate its mobile EDC with the mPOS system. Laksmono says his company is currently creating a developer platform, whichwillallowpartnerstoaccessthecompany’sapplication programming interface and build their own interesting apps (for gift cards, accounting, etc.) and incorporating more payment options – like eWallet and Bitcoin.This isn’t Laksmono’s irst startup venture. In 2011, he and two other USC students launched trueRSVP, an online platform that helps event planners save money, ind and reward loyal attendees, and decrease stress on the event date.And he credits much of his entrepreneurial success to the inspiration and support he drew from the people at Cal State L.A., namely his irst boss, Lily Nguyen, director of development for ECST, and his professors Dr. Chengyu Sun, Dr.Eun-Young(Elaine)Kang,andDr.RajPamula. •InSights | 9“It was my greatest experience to be able to learnfrom the world’s experts in the ields,” says Laksmono.UNDERGRADS COMPETE IN NATIONAL SEISMIC DESIGN COMPETITIONCal State L.A.’s Seismic Design Team placed third in the 2014 Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition held during the 11th U.S. National Conference on Earthquake Engineering and the 66th Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) Annual Meeting in Anchorage, Alaska, last July. The students were challenged to design a structure that could withstand three earthquake settings on a shake table.
